Licensed Mental Health Counselor
I received a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Westminster College in Pennsylvania. I went on to complete my graduate work at the University of Central Florida. I received a Masters in Mental Health Counseling with a specialization in Marriage & Family Therapy. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida (License # MH9112)l. I am a member of the American Counseling Association and the Florida Mental Health Counselors Association.
In addition to working with individuals and couples in my private practice in Oviedo, I also have experience working as a Marriage Educator with the Together Project, a federal grant that provides relationship education to married couples. Much of my educational pursuits and experience have been focused on providing services to couples. I received training in the Gottman research-based couples counseling and Prepare-Enrich. In addition, I have extensive experience working with addictions through both community and private mental health agencies. Other areas of interest and experience include: depression, anxiety, self-esteem, life transitions (see Services for more information). I offer a GLBT-friendly environment.
People come to my office with hopes of experiencing some sort of positive change. I see my role as creating the environment for change to happen. I view my work with people as collaborative. In other words, the counselor and client work together to set goals and develop the means to meet these goals. I offer practical approaches to understanding your struggle and establishing clear steps towards your goals. I hope to make the person sitting across from me in my office realize that they are their most important resource for making life work.
